Half Way There [Open]

It seemed like an entire season had come and gone since Half-face had first been bitten by the chill of greencough and then hereby ordered to stay out of sight. It was literally a blow to the tom. One that made the tom feel like a kitten scorned by it's mother to not leave the nursery. The massive tom hated being confined. Not only was his morals bruised but also his ego and pride that he had been defeated by a typical forest sickness. Tawnygaze was constantly busy squawking over his frame under the log den he'd made his new temporary home careful to not spread his sickness across the camp. Goodness, how he missed actually having to deal with another conversing cat though. Before he might scoff and make some excuse to walk away but after all this time he actually looked forward to any mindless chatter. 

Finally the day had come, however, where Tawnygaze checked him over and finally gave him a clean bill of health. The deputy considered jumping out of his fur at the news but considering how cold it was. Instead he gave Tawnygaze a lick on the cheek and bounded from his confines like a freed bird from a cage. The tom had nearly gotten all of two steps before realizing that he probably looked like a squirrel left out in the rain for four days then left to dry out in a humid tornado. Scoffing at his own lack of upkeep, the tom dropped onto his haunches and quickly got to work. His maw parted revealing the red tab of his tongue that fiercely combed at his thick fur. All that free time one would think he'd remember to groom - aye not Half-face he was too keen on brooding watching his clanmates from afar. Several more brisk licks and the tom could no longer keep himself back as he eyed cats already streaming into the clearing.

At least he looked somewhat civil now with his long white and brown tabby striped fur. He rubbed a carefully moist paw against the burn scar at his face to clean the area. Considering his short work he was back to looking a fine handsome scarred devil indeed. With a hop the tom was off plunging into the clearing and nearly side swiping the form of Cloverflower as she sauntered along with a similar look on her face. Restless? "Ah-be, apologizes Cloverflower. I've finally been allowed from my log, I'm officially healthy. Didn't mean to almost run over a laying friend," the tom tsked at himself as he collected the bones of her mouse to ease her troubles later. Half-face rolled the bones between his claws as he dropped to his rump to engage further with the queen. "Seems, I'm not the only restless one, you got that look a going in those eyes of yours." the tom pointed out with a grin of amusement. 

This she-cat was one of the few he always felt comfortable with and if not for her mate he'd have actually considered getting out of his own way and maybe courting her in 5-20 moons of talking himself into it.
